Week of December 21, 2015

Dear Families ~

On Tuesday, December 22, we plan to watch part of a PG-rated film, Alabama Moon.  We are reading this book in class, and we will watch only as much of the movie as we have read (of the book).  It has a “Family Approved” endorsement.

Thank you so much for your support during the Can Drive!    Fifth grade brought in about 600 food items and played a huge, huge part in SATEC's success!  We made a chart of our homerooms' progress (below).

A general reminder: We have school next Monday and Tuesday (12/21 + 12/22).

The Assignments page for this week has been updated.

Week of December 7

If you can’t fly, then run.  If you can’t run, then walk.  If you can’t walk, then crawl.  But whatever you are doing, keep moving forward.   - Martin Luther King Jr.   (submitted by MB)

As a reminder, our Jay Peak trip originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, was cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

This Wednesday, SATEC is taking part in the "Hour of Code" and 5th Grade will take part in the afternoon. Students will have the chance to learn and apply basic computer coding skills.

Welcome to winter weather!  Please remember that on most days we will still be outside for recess, so students should have clothing items to help them stay warm and protected (gloves, hats, scarves, boots, etc.).

Please note that a few final Jay Peak forms need to be submitted (your student should know if they need to return anything).  Students who can join us for the December 8 trip were fitted for boots today.

Also, we are taking part in a canned food drive (competition) with other grades here at SATEC.  Students do not have to bring in any items, but if it is possible to do so, we greatly appreciate it!  We will keep a tally of the number of cans collected in Mr. Murphy's room.  This is for the Operation Happiness Food Drive.  Thank you in advance for any support you can offer!

Mr. Gleim's homework is posted on the assignments tab.
